All businesses that use electrical and electronic equipment have a legal obligation to ensure that any waste is managed in accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 (WEEE). Any IT equipment used to store personal data must also comply with the Data Protection Act
Penkridge Computers offers an IT waste collection services so we can pick up any old or broken IT equipment to recycle or dispose of in accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 (WEEE). We take our compliance responsibilities very seriously and are a registered member of WEEELink (www.weeelink.co.uk) – a compliance scheme that helps us to ensure that are systems are documentation are legally compliant with full traceability .
Any devices that contain data will first be wiped. In addition, all tags and asset number information will be removed. If it is not possible to wipe the data then the device will be destroyed and a certificate of destruction issued.
We can issue certificates of removal for all equipment if required. Where possible all equipment will be re-used or recycled. Any remaining equipment will be disposed of according to the WEEE directive.
Should the collection involve hazardous wasteeg.cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors, we are obliged to issue a consignment note to satisfy your legal obligations under the Restriction of Hazardous Substances, RoHS, regulations.
